11/4/14

These Turkey wings have crisp skin and tender juicy meat.

Delicious Tender Turkey Wings Seasoned & Baked To Perfection!

Hey folks! So as many of you  know, I started my Thanksgiving Series this past Sunday. The first recipe was Sweet Potato Cheesecake. If you missed out definitely go check it out! In this post, I am going to show you how to make the BEST EVER Baked Turkey wings!

Turkey wings are perfect for people that don’t want to make a whole turkey, or maybe your family just like the wings.  The wings take a lot less time to make, and they cost a lot less too ( OMG have you seen the price for these whole turkeys?! $40 and up? Ain’t nobody got time for that!).

These wings are super easy to make, and they are basically foolproof!  Give them a try!

        JUST MY LUCK

We had to go on a diet (Audrey and I) to get healthy….Abused for 77 years and now I find you…You’re one hell of a cook Rosie…Wifey slipped into the category of borderline diabetic,

I had to get her off Meds and so, zero sugar…While at it I went gluton free and dairy free.
What a dull life we’re leading….Modified diet gave me replacements and her Dr, unaware of what I did, told her “See the Meds are working to control diabetes Yeah sure….When she told him I was responsible you should see the look…Doctors love Meds.. BTW her sugar levels are normal after 6 weeks..

Just a month or so more and pounds that are shedding and then back to a modified diet..

After all these years I am a believer that “You are what you eat”

but since I found you (shhhhhhhhh don’t tell a soul) I cheat on occasion..

Thanks for all your wonderful recipes and quick responses.. Stay well and have a happy Thanksgiving

        Mel

In the video you say to pour in chicken/turkey broth. However, in the directions you said
“•In the bowl that the wings were in, there will be leftover seasonings. Pour 2 1/2 cups of water into the bowl, stir, then pour the water into the bake dish.”

Will you please clarify which step to take.
Also, is that flour? It looks like you put flour on the wings.
Did you cover it the entire time of baking?
    Thanks

I changed the steps. You can use water OR broth. I prefer broth, but water will work. Also I did NOT use flour. What you see is the garlic powder and onion powder.

    Hi Rosie!

I need to make about 4lbs of the this meat, which is 5 wings pieces between these to packs. Could you help me modify this recipe to fit my quantity needs??? Also, are you using dried minced onion and garlic or freshly miniced???? I know that normally if you double your meat then you double your ingredients and increase the cooking time by 1/2x’s more, but I want to make sure I get it right the first time lol…..

HI Joshua! I’m so sorry for the SUPER late response. You can use either dry or fresh minced onion or garlic… If you double the portion, I’d cook it in separate pans, just to make sure everything cooks evenly.

I was reluctant to try it because I thought there was too much liquid and it would taste like something out of a crockpot. No way! It browned up beautifully and was till still toothsome yet tender. IOW, just perfect!

Rosie, I took meat from the freezer on Sunday fully anticipating that I would make Teriyaki wings for the family. To my surprise I had actually unfrozen Turkey Wings. I’ve never tried to cook them and had no idea what to do and I only had a few hours to get dinner prepared.

Thank God I found your blog. Your easy to follow recipe was absolutely delicious! I have a 14 year old son and my husband that love well seasoned food. The meat literally fell off of the bone and the flavor was define. I usually use the seasonings that you mentioned with the exception of the lemon. I tried it for the first time and I will always use lemon on poultry, as the flavor went to the next level.

Thanks so much for sharing your love for cooking and your gift for teaching with the world!

    Hey Rosie!!!

I tried out this recipe a few weeks ago, and my family loved it. I tried to make it again Sunday night without your recipe and they were edible but my mom and boyfriend said that they were way better the first time, when i watched your video as I went along. Also, not too mention, I ran out of season salt and and chicken broth but i used the other 1/2 cup of water. I think this time around I only had them in the oven for a little over an hour. Maybe the trick to juicy falling off the bone turkey wings is to let them cook for at least 2-3 hours. What do you think?

They are in the oven now, smells sooo good, the only thing I added was cream of chicken soup and carrots to the broth after about 1 and 1/2 hours of cooking. We’re having this with mac n cheese (boxed), green beans (fresh), and dinner rolls. This is the first time i’ve done this to turkey wings, thanks so much for sharing!

Oh Rosie, just to let you know — this is a DELICIOUS recipe! Wings aren’t common in my part of the country but the butcher did his thing with leftover turkeys from his magic refrigerator. Lo and behold turkey wings! 2 for $2.

The seasoning procedure would be awesome for a roast chicken.

Thank you and a most happy new year!

Thanks for sharing this recipe. I made it as written, without tweaking anything. The wings were very tasty and well-seasoned. I had leftovers the next day and they tasted even better. Because of this, the next time I make this I will season it and marinate it overnight before baking. I will also lower the amount of paprika. While I love the spice, I found 11/2 tbs to be too overpowering. I will probably decrease it to 1 tbsp and increase the poultry season by 2 tsp.

Also, for those of you wondering how many wings to cook – three medium wings turned out to be 2.75 lbs for me. One wing person was enough for my family. I really enjoyed this recipe and look forward to trying more of your delicious food.

Rosie, these wings are “Off The Chain”, thank you. I’ll be doing Thanksgiving alone this year due to Covid, and this is what I’ll be making. I did make a small change however. Instead of using broth or water, I use a can of “Cream of Celery”. It makes for a nice thick gravy.

    Thanks again!

My mother has been cooking for years and she’s pretty good but we found your blog about a year ago and we have never looked back. My entire thanksgiving is going to be A la Rosie this year . Cant wait for your cook book! I’m trying to go get some of the prep work out of the way do you think I can season overnight and then just pop in the oven or would the seasoning be overwhelming?

      Hi Key,

I was wondering the same thing, seasoning the night before. I decided against it because like yourself, I did not want the seasoning to be overwhelming. I’ve made these wings before and they came out sooo good. I guess I’ll leave well enough alone. Enjoy!
