Blueberry Salsa Recipe FAQs + Tips
Can I use frozen blueberries?
For best results, I highly suggest using fresh blueberries when making this salsa. Frozen blueberries will not hold up as well, and if you use frozen blueberries, you might end up having a watery salsa.
What gives salsa more flavor?
It really depends on the salsa. Most salsas get their flavor from the juicy tomatoes, onions, and lime ( sometimes lemon) juice. Another ingredient that adds flavor is jalapeno peppers. If you’re not a fan of the heat that jalapeno peppers give, you can remove the seeds. Cilantro is another great ingredient that gives salsa an amazing flavor.
For this recipe, the sweet, juicy blueberries give the salsa a lot of flavor. The combination of the blueberries, sweet Roma tomatoes, onions, and lime juice truly gives this salsa a ton of flavor.
What can I do with a lot of blueberries?
During the summer, I usually have a lot of blueberries on hand. Of course, I like to make this fresh blueberry salsa recipe, but I also make a ton of other recipes with blueberries. One of my favorite blueberry recipes is my Blueberry Cheesecake Muffins. I love serving these muffins in the morning and pairing them with coffee. I also make Southern Blueberry Cobbler, which is always requested in my house. A few other things that you can make with blueberries are:
- Blueberry french toast
- blueberry lemonade
- blueberry syrups
- blueberry coffee cake
- My blueberry cornbread waffles (which is in my first cookbook, I Heart Soul Food)
- blueberry pancakes
- blueberry based cocktails
The options are pretty limitless when it comes to blueberries! Did I miss something? Let me know what you like to make with blueberries in the comment section below!
