Chitterlings aka chittlins made easy in the Crock Pot!
Hey cousins! In this post I’m going to show you how to make chitterlings in the slow cooker. Be sure to watch my video tutorial below, so that you can see how I clean and soak the chitterlings.
Note: In my previous chitterling video I used potatoes to help mute the smell of the chittlins. No need to use potatoes y’all. I’ve been using just apple cider vinegar, and it does just fine!
Watch my video tutorial on how I clean and cook chitterlings.

Hi Rosie,
Thank you for sharing this recipe. You are blessing to self-taught cooks I have a few questions:
1) How long do you soak the chitlins in the water + apple cider vinegar mix before removing the skin?
2) Any issue with slowcooking them on low for 12 hours vs high for 6 hrs?
3) I purchased the Queenella Triple Cleaned chitlins, do they require removing the skin before cooking them?
Rosie says
I soak them for at least 30 minutes before cleaning. Even though you have ” clean” chitterlings, I would still clean them. You can slow cook them for 12 hours on low 😉

You know I’ve NEVER even considered using my slow cooker for chitterlings! This just changed the game! It’ll be easy to add them to the menu for Thanksgiving now! And P.S. I prefer using vinegar as well. It takes a little of that porky taste out too!

I have white fatty blobs on my chitterling while cooking in slow cooker… is there a reason for this?
Rosie says
Unfortunately, it sounds like they should have been cleaned more.
