Chicken coated with waffle batter, flour, and seasonings, then deep fried until it reaches golden perfection!
A Delicious and Simple Waffle Fried Chicken Recipe!
This brunch season everyone will be serving the same ol’ thing.. Bacon, Sausage, Eggs, Muffins, and etc. Not me! I will be showing out with unforgettable brunch menus! I’m talking about fabulous breakfast scrambles, cheese grits, homemade hash browns, and assortment of fresh ice teas, and of course my infamous Waffle Fried Chicken!
If you’ve been following me for a while, you probably remember that I uploaded this recipe several years ago. However, I’ve give this recipe a facelift since then. I now brine the chicken overnight prior to frying. I also season the chicken differently.
I usually use chicken wings ( because it’s my favorite part), when I make waffle fried chicken, but you can use any part of the chicken!
This chicken is perfect to serve for breakfast ( serve with grits, OMG… It’s FIRE!), brunch, or any other meals. It can also be served as an appetizer!

Hello – I share your lovely website on my blog roll and just saw your fried chicken recipe today. I have never made decent friend chicken — the flour always falls off the chicken during the frying process. Can’t wait to try this!
Rosie says
Hi Annie! I’m glad that you found my blog. Enjoy the fried chicken!
Annie says
I can’t make decent ‘fried’ or ‘friend’ chicken, LOL
Sheila says
Hi Rose, I was wondering does it matter if I take the skin off of the chicken?
Rosie says
Hi Sheila. Yes, it would matter. In order for the batter to ” stick ” to the chicken, more ingredients would be needed, and that would be another recipe.
Sheila A says
Thank you so much for responding back promptly. I have used several of your recipes (candied yams, collard greens, mac & cheese and have you on my homescreen, so I can easily acres your recipes. Thank you again for creating recipes that I can enjoy.

Hey Rosie, I just want to make sure that I make the brine right. It should be sugar, water, and salt? Thanks so much for your help and sharing great recipes!
Rosie says
Yes Ma’am 🙂
Debbie Montez says
Hi Rosie – I love this waffle fried chicken, we didn’t use the hot sauce or cayenne so it came out very sweet, should I reduce the sugar in the brine? We want to serve it for Christmas Brunch with cinnamon apple french toast. FYI, I also used chicken tenders.
Rosie says
Hi Debbie! The Brine shouldn’t make the chicken sweet. It maybe the waffle mix. Try using a different mix 😉
Sarah says
what kind of waffle mix should i use?
Rosie says
I usually use whatever is on sale to be honest. lol
Launa Tidwell says

Rosie says
Sure can 😉

Girrrrl! I made this last night and I swear I DREAMED about it. So good. I have been diagnosed with celiac disease and I had to use my gluten free pancake batter because I was out of my waffle batter. Not a problem. Thank you for sharing. Trying to find delicious gluten free recipes can be painful but today my heart and belly are full!!!
Rosie says
