This simple strawberry banana pudding parfait is a quick dessert packed with sweet, ripe strawberries, fresh bananas, and tons of creamy pudding and whipped cream!

Hey Cousins! Today I am sharing one of my favorite dessert recipes. It’s the perfect summer treat – light, easy, packed with fresh fruit, and party-friendly! I’m showing you how to make a creamy strawberry banana pudding parfait.
I’ve shared a few banana pudding recipes in the past, like my banana pudding cake and banana pudding cupcakes. But this time, I thought I’d do something a little different and throw some delicious fresh strawberries into the mix! The best part about this pudding recipe is that it’s a 100% no-bake dessert, which is always a plus when you’re planning a dinner party or any other kind of get together.
This delicious dessert combines creamy pudding, fresh strawberries and bananas, and vanilla wafer cookies into one perfect and pretty parfait.
Strawberry Banana Pudding Recipe Ingredients
So, what do you all need to make this simple no-bake dessert? Just a few ingredients from the grocery store! This strawberry banana pudding is semi-homemade, so there’s no complicated directions to follow or special ingredients needed. Check out the recipe card at the end of this post for a complete list of ingredients and measurements! Here’s what you need:
- Fresh Strawberries & Bananas: you’ll want to use fresh fruit for this recipe, not frozen – but it’s so worth it!
- Instant Pudding Mix: I cheated a little bit and used a box of vanilla pudding mix. But don’t worry, we jazz it up a bit!
- Cold Milk: to make the instant pudding. You can use whole milk or low-fat milk, whichever you prefer.
- Sour Cream: you might be thinking, “what the heck, Cousin… sour cream?!” But trust me! It adds a great tangy flavor that balances the sweetness of the dessert.
- Whipped Cream: you can make your own using heavy cream or cheat a little bit with whipped topping (like Cool Whip).
- Vanilla Wafer Cookies: the perfect crunchy addition to this strawberry banana pudding parfait.
- Strawberry Wafer Cookies: these are purely for garnish, so they’re optional but highly recommended (and great for snacking on too, might I add!).
Simple Ingredient Swaps and Substitutions
I always say follow the recipe for the best results, but everyone likes to make a few tweaks now and again. So, here are some simple swaps and substitutions you can make to suit your tastes!
Try another flavor of pudding mix! This would be amazing with cheesecake pudding, and of course, you wouldn’t go wrong with banana pudding if you really want that classic banana flavor.
You can make instant pudding with a milk substitute such as almond milk or oat milk.
If sour cream feels a little too extreme for your tastes, swap it out with plain Greek yogurt (or even vanilla or strawberry flavored yogurt!).
Some readers have suggested using cream cheese in place of sour cream, which would make your pudding layers much thicker, like a no-bake cheesecake consistency.

How to Make a Strawberry Banana Pudding Parfait
This recipe could not be easier! You just have to toss together some semi-homemade ingredients, set the parfait into the fridge for a bit to chill, and it’s ready to go.
Here are the quick steps! You can print out the recipe card below with the exact instructions.
- Prepare the instant vanilla pudding according to the package directions. You’ll want to use a large bowl.
- Once the pudding is mixed, fold in the sour cream and whipped topping until everything is combined.
- Grab a large serving bowl and add a layer of vanilla wafers on the bottom. Next, add a layer of pudding, then a layer of strawberry and banana slices. Repeat the layers until the serving bowl is filled.
- Top off the pudding parfait with a layer of whipped topping, and garnish with the strawberry wafer cookies, some whole strawberries, and any remaining banana slices.
- Pop your parfait in the fridge to chill for at least two hours before serving.
There ya have it, fam! This tasty strawberry banana pudding dessert will be sure to satisfy any sweet tooth you have. It’s creamy and fresh thanks to the sweet fruit, and the layers of crunchy cookies add texture. It’s so easy to make with just a few ingredients and minimal prep time, you’ll be making this pudding parfait all the time!

Strawberry Banana Pudding Parfait Recipe Tips
Now, this recipe may be easy enough, but I want to share just a few tips on how you can make it even better. I swear, y’all know I always come packin’ with Cousin Rosie tips!
- For the ultimate presentation, I like to use a large, stemmed dish called a trifle bowl.
- You can also make individual servings of this dessert by preparing the recipe as directed and serve them up in parfait glasses.
- You can make this dessert ahead of time, but the layers of vanilla wafers will begin to get soggy the longer the parfait sits. For the best taste, serve it fresh!
- Store leftovers in the fridge, covered with plastic wrap or stored in an airtight container.
- If you don’t like vanilla wafers, you can swap them out with graham crackers.
- Feel free to add more fruit! Blueberries and raspberries would be a welcome addition to this pudding parfait.

Thanks hun!
What a coincidence! I made a similar dish for Easter, minus the bananas and sour cream (my family believes that bananas doesn’t belong in banana pudding lol), and instead I used cream cheese. By adding the sour cream, what differs in taste from the cream cheese?
The sour cream would be less thick than the cream cheese. 🙂
Absolutely gorgeous, and know it will be just as good as it looks! And its easy :).
Thanks Pat!
