- Next, combine the hot sauce and egg in a bowl. Mix until well combined.

- Now grab a cookie sheet or sheet pan and cooling rack. Place the cooling rack on top of the cookie sheet.
- Spray the rack with with vegetable oil, then place the chicken on top of the rack.
- Spray each piece of chicken with oil until it's well coated. Make sure to get both sides.

Do you spray the chicken with the same oil you sprayed the pan with? This sounds amazing and can’t wait to try it.
Rosie says
Hi there! Yes, I used the same oil( peanut oil). Feel free to use your favorite vegetable oil.
Lorraine says
Why do my crust is coming off oven fried CHICKEN? Spraying pan with Pam. HELP ROSIE
Rosie says
The breading is falling off? That shouldn’t be happening. Also, I didn’t use PAM. I used a regular vegetable oil. PAM is a not stick spray that has other ingredients other than just oil.
Lorraine says
Lol Thanks Rosie. I said crust and I meant to say Breading. You can tell what my mind on. Pie
Leena says
Can I make this without the rack? Unfortunately, I don’t have one.
Rosie says
It may be a little soggy at the bottom if not. Make sure you turn it several times while cooking.
Michael Cherry says
Excellent ande parmesan to the flour, it turned out excellent
Nailah says
What is the brand of seasoning salt you use? I know I can use any brand, but curious as to your favorite.
Rosie says
My favorite seasoning salt is Johnnys Seasoning.
Harriet says
It taste very good….will make it again …great recipe……
Latia says
Good morning, it’s a a difference if I were to put the oil in a bowl and dip the chicken In it, instead of spraying the chicken? Just a thought on my mind. I can’t wait to try this! Thank you!
Rosie says
The chicken already was dipped in egg, and hot sauce. If you were to follow up with oil after that it just won’t work as well. For best results follow the recipe listed.
Tonya says
This is a great recipe, thank you for sharing..
Natasha Williams says
Hey! Could I bake the chicken at a lower temperature, 350, instead of 400? Or would that make the crust soggy?
Rosie says
For best results follow the recipe, and directions listed 🙂

Deenie says
Just curious, what brand of poultry seasoning do you use?
Rosie says
I usually buy whatever is on sale 😉
Monica says
This oven fried chicken was delish! I only had Italian breadcrumbs & it was still good… adding the breadcrumbs made the chicken more crispy than using flour alone. Thank you Rosie.
Evelyn says
Can I make use of deep fryer instead of oven?
Rosie says
Sure.
Karen says
You are so pretty.
Katrina says
I really enjoyed this oven fried chicken. This is my new way of frying chicken. I can now relax when I get home from work instead of standing over a hot stove. I took an extra 20 minutes to cook. I do suggest to have a window or fan going because my apartment was smokey towards the end of cooking but taste good.
Basetsana says
Absolutely delicious, love this recipe!

Hi Rosie
I posted before but didn’t recieve an answer. I was asking about the hot sauce you for your baked chicken. I can’t use hot sauce mild or otherwise. Is there any other coating I could use?
Rosie says
You can skip out on it.
Bonnie Moore says
Great video, easy to follow and understand. I’ve failed so often on fried chicken, I’d given up. The video and reading the comments with your replies has helped me immensely. I’m going to give it another shot. How embarrassing to live so far south and make such lousy fried chicken. But I have hope! Heehee!
Pat says
Can’t wait to try this recipe. I am 72 years old and learning to cook all over again. Love your recipes. Question..is there a easy way to cut the recipe down in amout due to me being single or should I just “hunker” down and get to eating. Us Southern Girls do love our fried chicken. Thanks for the great recipes!!!!!
Rosie says
You can certainly cut the recipe down ❤
Lisa Crawley says
This chicken was absolutely DELICIOUS! Probably one of the few recipes that I have tried that turned out just like the picture. I followed the directions exactly and it came out perfect. I greatly appreciated no more hot grease poppin’ and mess to clean up! Healthier eating and easy to do – thank you Rosie!
Mauri says
Made this tonight and it turned out great. I ran out of cooking spray and only coated lightly with oil. Big mistake. After 35 minutes in the over the chicken came out looking like it was covered with raw flour. To remedy I melted some coconut oil and brushed it on the liberally. 5 more minutes in the oven and the skin crisped up nicely
Will definitely make again
Trisha says
Hello Rosie,
Can I use the 4lbs bag of mini chicken wings and flats instead? Do I need to double the ingredients since I’m using 4lbs? Will the brine also work for this using the same measurements? Thank you for all you do with the cooking vibe!!
Rosie says
Yes to both questions 😉
Jenean Graham says
I made this chicken as is. I didn’t change a thing. It was delicious. My family loved it. I would definitely make it again.
Walter Colquitt says
This recipe is amazingly good. Chicken thighs were plump and juicy and tasted great. I used about half of the hot sauce, and found that the dry ingredients were enough for about five pounds of chicken – otherwise the recipe is perfect. Will definitely make it again and again
David Muhammad says
My wife doesn’t care for spicy food. Does the hot sauce just add flavor or is it bringing a lot of heat?
Rosie says
I use a mild hot sauce, and its not really spicy. It adds flavor. However, if she is sensitive to spice, I would suggest skipping this one.
Margaret Mitchell says
I made this today and had great success.. I left out the hot sauce and it was still very tasteful.
Ann F says
Do you place the chicken on the top rack or on the middle rack?
Rosie says
Top Rack
Dan Sobieck says
I brined the bird similar to the deep fried recipe and then followed the baked recipe as directed — outstanding once again!
Thanks Rosie!

My son and I ENJOYED your recipe! One question: Using your recipe, will the ‘AIR FRYER’ work as well as the oven>
Anish says
Hi Rosie! Loveeee your recipes! Can this same recipe work for a 6 lb. whole chicken?
Rosie says
Hi Anish! I answered prematurely at first. However, this recipe is for 2 lbs. You’ll have to triple the ingredients for 6 lbs 🙂
Michael Cherry says
Added parmesan to flour as well excellent turnout
Kellie says
I have made this a number of times now. It is a no fail recipe!!! Spot on every time. You are so cute and amazing!! Thank you for this.
Laura says
Love ya…cooking chicken today!
Peggy says
I don’t like hot sauce…any suggestions?
Rosie says
You can do a egg wash instead.
Richard says
Liked you idea with the spray bottle fir oil. I always waste oil when trying to oil my cooling rack when using.
