How to make Cake Pops
Hi friends! I’ve been getting a lot of request for cake pops. Before I show you how to make the more complicated cake pops, I think that it is important to show you how to make basic cake pops. In this post I will share tips on how make easy cake pops and  I will also include my video tutorial.
If you’re not familiar with cake pops let me tell you what they are. Cake Pops are small cake balls made out of cake crumbs and icing. Once the cake balls are formed, they are coated with icing or a candy coating.

First things first – You’re going to need cake. You can make a cake from scratch or use a box cake. It is completely up to you. I suggest using a nice fluffy cake. When I make cake pops. I usually use the my vanilla cake recipe or my german chocolate cake.
You can find the recipes here
Other than cake, you will need buttercream or some other type of frosting. You can find my recipe for buttercream here.
So now that we have the the main ingredients out of the way, let’s talk about the other stuff. Â You’re going to need a few items that can be bought either at your local grocery store OR and arts and craft store such as Michael’s, JoAnn’s, and etc.
Those items are
- Lollipop Sticks
- Candy Melts
- & Sprinkles ( you can get sprinkles for cheap at the Dollar Store)
If you’re going to be serving cake pops at a party, you may want to wrap the cake pops up, and place them in a pretty basket OR stand. I like both options. Usually people don’t know what to use for a cake pop stand or the buy expensive stands from the store. I honestly think that buying a expensive cake pop stand is a waste of money. I buy foam blocks from the dollar tree ( shown above), and use them as cake pop stands. You can decorate the foam blocks to your preference or leave them as is..
So let’s look over our check list one more time
- Cake
- Frosting
- Lollipop Sticks
- Candy Melts ( you’ll need a little vegetable oil or coconut oil to thin it out… )
- Sprinkles
- A basket, or stand for the cake pops
Now that we’ve talked about what is needed, let me show you how I make them!
I hope that the post and tutorial were clear, and informative. If you have any additional questions, please be sure to leave them down below.
