Ingredients

  • 12 slices  wheat or white bread cut in cubes
  • 3 buttermilk biscuits cubed ( you don't need these, but I think it made it even better!)
  • 1/4 pound bacon  chopped
  • 2 small granny smith apples chopped apples
  • 1 cup whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 2 tsp ground sage
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 cup apple juice   I used a concentrate, but you can use whatever apple juice you want to use!
  • 1 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 2 lightly beaten eggs

Instructions

  • Spray a baking dish with cooking spray, and place the bread cubes into the dish. Bake the Bread for about 15-20 minutes on 350 F.
  • While the bread is toasting, be sure to stir it occasionally so that it will not burn at the bottom.
  • While the bread is toasting, prepare the bacon. Fry the bacon over medium heat until it is nice and Crisp. Be sure to reserve the bacon drippings.
  • Once the bread is nice and toasted, let it cool. After cooling, place the bread cubes into a large mixing bowl or dish.
  • Pour the chicken broth all over the bread cubes followed by the apple juice, and stir.
  • Add the whole berry cranberry sauce, chopped apples, and crumble in the bacon. Drizzle in about 2-3 tablespoons of the bacon drippings, then fold in the ingredients.
  • Sprinkle in the sage, salt, and peppers, and stir.
  • Last, but not least, add in the beaten eggs. Make sure you stir everything until it is well combined.
  • Place the stuffing/dressing into a well greased 13x9 baking dish.
  • Bake the dressing/stuffing on 350 F for 30 minutes.
  • After 30 minutes, remove the dressing/stuffing from the oven, give it a stir, then bake it for an additional 15 -20 minutes.
  • Let the stuffing/dressing sit for 5 minutes, then serve!
