Collard Greens and Smoked Turkey

This quick and classic collard greens recipe is a great southern classic.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 lbs of collard greens
  • 2 smoked turkey legs
  • 1 medium white onion chopped
  • 2 large sliced jalapeno peppers
  • 1 tsp of minced or chopped garlic
  • 1/2 tsp of seasoning salt
  • 15 oz of chicken broth
  • 6 cups of water

Instructions

  • Start off by boiling your smoked turkey legs in 6 cups of water for 30-35 minutes.
  • When the turkey is done remove the meat from the water( save it, don't toss the water!)
  • Remove the meat from the bone, then place the meat back into the pot.
  • Now add your onions, jalapenos, garlic, and collards. Stir the ingredients.
  • Add the seasoning salt, then the chicken broth. Stir.
  • Cover the put with the lid, and cook on low medium heat for about 45 minutes.
  • Be sure to stir periodically to prevent burning.
  • Serve!
