Can u use this rub to marinate it overnight?
Rosie says
You sure can.
Devoria says
Hi, Rosie,
Thanks for the “Rub”!! You put together some great spices for it. I am going to actually make a container full and use it occasionally on various meats for quick marinating and/or seasoning.
Rosie says
No Problem! I always make a huge batch of the rub as well 🙂
SONYA HIGHTOWER says
I saw the oven brisket recipe. I doing it in the conventional oven. When taking off foil for the last hour, is that what develops the crust? In using your rub, I’m afraid that the sugar will make it sweet. Is that true? Also, I usually use liquid smoke (from Texas) and it’s not good unless it has that smoky flavor so my question is – is there any type of liquid smoke that’s in powered form and if so how much to use in your rub recipe?
Rosie says
Hi Sonya. Yes, removing the foil does make the outer part of the brisket a little crisp. If you are afraid to use my rub, use another. I only use liquid smoke, and unfamiliar with powdered smoke. I can not give you any suggestions on that, sorry.
Sherry says
How long will this keep?
Rosie says
I’ve kept it for several months before. Maybe 3 months or so, before the brown sugar starts to clump.
Vince says
WHat other recipes work well with this rub
Rosie says
Hi Vince! You can use it on pork, beef, and chicken. Any type of BBQ dishes.

So sorry for the late response, but I would have added 2 tbsp

For the beef brisket slow cooker recipe, should i double the ingredients for the homemade bbq rub so i have enough to rub on the whole brisket ?
Rosie says
You can double it if needed.

Hi Rosie. Thanks for the great video. How long did it take to cook the crust?
Rosie says
Hi Adam! I eyeball it. Just cook until you reach your desired color. It usually takes about 5-7 minutes.
Adam says
Hi Rosie. I have a 7ib brisket and made your bbq rub exactly according to your recipe. Should I use all the rub for this brisket?

Yes, use all of it.

Thank you for this.
Rosie says
Thanks for giving it a try! XOXO
Mary Beth van der Horst says
Your readers that are wary of liquid smoke can substitute smoked paprika for the regular type. It adds a wonderfully smoky flavor without being overpowering at all!
Rosie says
Thanks for the tip! XOXO

I make pulled BBQ in the crockpot a lot. I haven’t really used much of a dry rub just a little seasoning, would you recommend using this even if adding BBQ sauce after I pull the meat?
Rosie says
Hi Patty! Yes, I recommend seasoning, even if you’re going to use sauce.
Patty says
Great, my kids & grandkids are coming for BBQ dinner Sun and I was thinking about trying it out…now definitely going to use it. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!
